Flying to Calgary for surgery tomorrow. Thanks to the very helpful @AirCanada staff for making it as easy as possible!
Hello Internet World,
First off thank you all so much for the love and support! As you may know, I suffered a crash in the semi-final at the Olympics. To be honest, I only crashed in that spot because of the over speed on the big jump before. When overshooting the jump to nearly flat I instantly knew my knee had fully blown out. I tried my very best to hold on as long as possible with hopes of crossing the finish line, one last time.
Thanks to the great on site medical staff I was safely escorted straight to an MRI and a follow up with the Canadian Olympic Team medial doctors. The results were very clear. Ruptured ACL, possible LCL and extensive damage to both meniscus.
The plan for now is simple. I will undergo surgery this Friday in Banff with the best hands I know, Dr. Heard. Following the surgery I will be doing everything I can to make my return in 2019 and compete again on the World Cup circuit!
I can't thank you all enough for the amazing messages and love through this difficult time!
Back on the podium! What a wild ride it has been over the last few years. I can’t thank you all for the overwhelming support! PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics are only a few weeks away 🇨🇦❤️ Team Canada / Équipe Canada • Canada Snowboard
